2005-07-10 - 9:29 p.m.

This weekend was fun. I went to Fantastic 4 with Matt and a couple of his friends on Friday. Then we went bowling, and then played super mario smash bros melee for 2 hours. It was good to spend time with him and not feel awkward. His friend Derek "Big Man" was awesome. He was Derek's best man in his wedding, so I think it's a good sign that I get along with his best friends.
I'm not pining after Matt right now, really. I'm glad we broke up when we did, because I do need to spend time with friends before college. He was right. I am happy that he and I can be friends still, and if anything happens after I start college then good. Some people you meet and you form this bond right away, and I don't think it can easily be broken. He and I were like that. Even if we aren't going out, we've still got this bond. We'll see how things go.
Saturday Val and I went to Kate's pool party. It wasn't too much of a party cause there were only 4 of us, but it was awesome nonetheless. Steffen was there, and I think he and Kate are cute together. Not that they are technically together, but I think they should be. Then Val and I got out of there around 5 and watched Down With Love, one of the many movies I bought this week. Then we went to Mike's and watched Jurassic Park, which Val hadn't seen ever. It's a classic. And that was the night.
Oh by the way, I woke up on Saturday with my left jaw swollen like a painful motherfucker. My mom and I had to go to the Emergency room, and it was an infection like we guessed. This wisdom tooth business is way too much shit than it should be. I'm pissed. Now I'm on an expensive antibiotic that makes me tired as hell. Pieces of shit.
But today was awesome. I went up North to my Aunt and Uncle's land in Wisconsin. They have some lake front property and they had a little family shindig, where a surprising number of the family turned out. We went swimming in the lake and I played with my cousins. It was some old school fun. I needed to commune with nature.
I'm so glad my life has been good recently. This summer could definitely be shittier. But, I want to go to college SO bad right now. I want to start my new life, I want to meet new people, and be in a new place in general. I want to learn what it's like to really be independent. And yeah, I want to see if Matt was right. I want to see if I won't want to still be with him once I start my new life. Either way would be ok, and he and I know that. God damn summer is too long!
